Drakari

The Drakari are the Dark Elves. They were originally Ilidari who had been seduced by the dark powers and turned on their brethren. This resulted in a great civil war during the First Age between the "dark" elves and their brethren. Eventually the latter were victorious and the rebellious elves fled to the Underworld.

Over the years, they have established various settlements in the Underworld. The most prominent include Den'Tharas, Duglakh, Rath-Kaelin, Shaansu'ul, Shaithal, Varlolth, and Zhaure.

The Drakari have jet-black skin, white or silver hair, and red eyes. They have similar physiques to Sylvari, averaging 5 feet tall and 100 pounds.

The Dark Elves rejected the Faith of the Earth Mother centuries ago. Today, most of them worship the Demon Queen of Spiders, though some follow Azakhar, Mordalis, or Savia. A few secretly venerate Shaarizad, working to undermine the cult of the Spider Queen.

Drakari society is very hierarchical, and is dominated by a handful of ruling houses. These houses include:

  • House Ssinshar: A matriarchal house that rules Den'Tharas. It derives most of it wealth from commerce.
  • House Da'Maer: The most powerful house in Varlolth. They are said to be aligned with the church of Shaarizad.
  • House Il'ryss: One of the ruling houses of Rath-Kaelin. They are shrewd traders who always appear to concede too much but they always come out ahead in the end.
  • House Liaal: One of the ruling houses of Rath-Kaelin. It is rumored that the members of this house begin to go mad upon reaching adulthood.
  • House Vrynn: One of the ruling houses of Rath-Kaelin. Many members of this house are prone to adventuring, both in the Underworld and on the surface.
